Advanced Solid Control Equipment

Also known as a drilling fluid centrifuge,Decanter Centrifuge is independently developed to achieve variable frequency and constant speed automatic control within the solids control system. As the fourth-stage solids control equipment in the drilling mud system, it handles the finest particle separation. Utilizing the principle of centrifugal sedimentation, it separates suspensions within the drilling fluid and is crucial for balancing drilling fluid viscosity and restoring mud weight, primarily targeting the removal of solid particles ranging from 2 to 5 μm.

Versatile Bowl Diameter Range
Offers a wide selection of bowl diameters to perfectly match diverse mud cleaning applications, from general solids control to fine particle separation.
High G-Force & Large Processing Capacity
With large bowl diameters and high rotation speeds, the centrifuge generates powerful G-forces, enabling it to handle large volumes of drilling mud efficiently without compromising separation performance.
Superior Separation Efficiency
The bowl’s length-to-diameter ratio reaches up to 3, delivering exceptional separation efficiency for fine solid particles as small as 2–7 μm, ensuring cleaner drilling fluid.
High-Strength Bowl Construction
The bowl’s cylindrical and conical sections are precision-cast from duplex stainless steel (SS316L or SS2205), providing excellent wear and corrosion resistance for long-term, reliable operation.
Protected Screw Conveyor
The screw conveyor is lined with replaceable tungsten carbide tiles or hard alloy protection. This significantly extends its service life and simplifies maintenance, reducing downtime and operating costs.
Wear-Resistant Critical Ports
The screw conveyor’s flow distribution ports and the bowl’s solids discharge ports are protected with tungsten carbide alloy or ceramics, minimizing wear in high-velocity, abrasive flow areas.
Flexible Liquid Level Adjustment
The liquid discharge weir height is easily adjustable, allowing operators to fine-tune the separation point and adapt to different mud properties and processing requirements.
Enhanced Bearing Protection
The bowl assembly is driven by a tighter belt system, which helps absorb shock loads and protect the bearings during operation, improving reliability.
High-Strength Vibration Damping
Shock absorbers are made of high-strength composite materials, effectively isolating vibration and ensuring stable, quiet operation even under high loads.
Flexible Speed Control Options
Both fixed-frequency and variable-frequency control systems are available, allowing the centrifuge to adapt to different mud conditions, flow rates, and separation objectives.
Premium Bearings for Reliability
Equipped with high-quality FAG or SKF bearings, ensuring long service life and consistent, trouble-free performance in demanding oilfield environments.

DECANTER CENTRIFUGE FAQs

What is the function of a decanter centrifuge in drilling operations?
A decanter centrifuge is a fourth-stage solids control unit used to remove ultrafine solids from drilling fluid through centrifugal sedimentation.
What particle size can the centrifuge remove?
It is designed to separate fine solids typically in the 2–7 μm range, depending on operating conditions and mud properties.
Where is the decanter centrifuge located in the system?
It is installed as the final mechanical separation stage after desander and desilter units, and optionally after a mud cleaner.
How does a decanter centrifuge work?
It uses high-speed rotation to generate centrifugal force, separating solids from liquid based on density differences inside a rotating bowl.
Can the operating speed be adjusted?
Yes. The system supports both fixed-frequency and variable-frequency control for different drilling conditions and separation requirements.
What materials are used in the centrifuge?
The bowl is made of duplex stainless steel (SS316L or SS2205), and wear-prone components are protected with tungsten carbide or ceramic materials.
What are the main operational advantages?
It improves fine solids removal efficiency, stabilizes drilling fluid properties, reduces waste volume, and enhances overall solids control performance.
